If you look back on your life, I am almost certain that you can think about a time when a word you heard, read or saw made a difference.
It may have been on a rainy night after you had a terrible day, your little one wrapped their arms around you and said: “I love you”. Or a time when you made a mistake at work that made you feel so down and a friendly co-worker reached out and said: “it could happen to anyone”. Maybe it was a simple occurrence, like when you were driving down the street and a phrase on someone’s T-shirt touched your heart and brought tears to your eyes.
The words we see, hear or read can indeed transform our lives forever. That’s why the Bible emphasizes over and over again the power of words.
“A person finds joy in giving an apt reply and how good is a timely word!”
– Proverbs 15:23
“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.”
– Proverbs 25:11
“The Lord God has given me the tongue of discipleship, to sustain the weary with a word. He awakens me morning by morning; He awakens my ear to listen as a disciple.” – Isaiah 50:4
Words are powerful!
In our fast-paced, ever-changing world we have the privilege to use our words in many ways to impact the lives of others. We have the technology to express words in new ways and reach more people. We can talk to a friend in need on our mobile or write them a note. And we can send an email to a distant relative or vlog to absolute strangers on the internet! We can use the word of God to really transform the lives of people we know and those we may never meet.
Now if you think about that, ask yourself this: how are you using your words and the platforms you have to express them? If you are not completely satisfied with your word-score on this question then look around you today and find someone you can touch with your words.
And if you feel nervous speaking, why not use these items branded with Christian phrases to inspire and bless those around you. The new collection from Her Sides has themes ranging from Blossom, Deeply rooted, Salt & Light and many more.
