Promise Keeper or Covenant Breaker?

When I think of a promise keeper, I immediately remember those people throughout the years who kept their promises or commitments to me, even when it caused them pain, inconvenience or hardship.

Those, who saw me through the most difficult times, even when things got ugly or complicated. When I recall those past circumstances and consider the people who stood by me, I now see them as godly giants who truly made the difference in the person I would later become as a Christian woman, wife and mother.

Let me ask you a couple of questions…
1) How many times can you remember telling someone you would pray for them, only to realize the next time you saw them, you hadn’t spent a single moment before the Lord on their behalf? Promise keeper or covenant breaker?
2) How many times have you committed yourself to bake a meal for that sick person at church, or to take a spot in the nursery on Sunday morning, only to convince yourself on the day of the commitment that someone else would take care of it or that your services were truly not needed? Promise keeper or covenant breaker?

I know these words seem harsh my brothers and sisters in Christ.   However, if we desire to be all that God has called us to be as His children, we need to make sure that we are a people of God’s character in how we keep our word, commitments or promises!

As our example, God is the Great Promise Keeper! He never fails or falters in delivering what He has promised! His wonderful Word is filled with solid and true promises that are ours for the taking. Here are two of my favorite promises of God…

Proverbs 18:24 – “But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
Deut. 31:8 – “And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you;
He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

Today my prayer is that we have the courage to examine ourselves in the light of whether or not we are a promise keeper or a covenant breaker. Let us prayerfully and willfully allow God’s example to lead us, teach us, convict us and conform us to His likeness.

There are people right now whom God has strategically placed in your life so that you can influence them and make a real difference! It will take a commitment of time, effort, determination and maybe even pain or hardship. Are you willing to make that commitment or promise today?

ABOUT RHONDA
imageI was born and raised in the very southern speaking state of North Carolina with all of its down to earth and hospitality charm. Though I was raised with a knowledge of God and a respect for His commandments, it wasn’t until I was 13 years of age that God brought a Christian family into my life who demonstrated what it meant to have a genuine love relationship with Jesus Christ. From their example I began to realize my own personal need for a Savior!

During the past 26 years, God has enabled me to work in the ministry of the Lord as a Pastor’s wife, Church Administrator, Bookkeeper, and Women’s Ministry Director. My passion in ministry is to make a difference in the lives of women, to teach them God’s truths, to encourage them, and to challenge them to be all that God has created them to be… Daughter’s of the King!

Lastly, my hearts motto is to “Bloom where He has planted me”! To make a difference wherever God has placed me geographically and leave that place a little bit better than what it was when I came. At the age of 20, I married the love of my life, and together God has blessed us with two wonderful children. Currently we live and serve the Lord in Southern California.
