“So faith come from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”—Romans 10:17

The word of Christ also can be talked through music. I’d love to share songs I listened to from Christian bands during my tough and confusing periods.

“Ocean Wide”—The Afters

Look outside
It’s already light and the stars ran away with the night
Things we’re said, words that we’ll try forget,
it’s so hard to admit I know we’ve made mistakes
I see through all the tears but that’s what got us here
If love is an ocean wide
We’ll swim in the tears we cry
They’ll see us through to the other side
We’re gonna make it
When love is a raging sea
You can hold on to me
We’ll find a way tonight
Love is an ocean wide
I’ll stay right here
It’s where I’ll always belong
Tied with your arms
Days like this, I wish the sun wouldn’t set
I don’t want to forget
What made us feel this way
You see through all my fears
And that’s what got us here
Love is an ocean wide enough to forget
Even when we think we can’t

People make mistakes, but God won’t judge us and will still be here for us and help us get through everything. I would say that’s his way to help us make progress on our personal growth. His love is like ocean wide and makes us feel safe and faithful most time.  All we need to do is to believe that he’ll always lead us to the right direction.

“Let It Go”—Tenth Avenue North

I’ve been holding on so tight
Look at these knuckles they’ve gone white
From fighting for who I want to be
I’m just trying to find security
But you say let it go
You say let it go
You say life is waiting for the one’s who lose control
You say You will be everything I need
You say if I lose my life it’s then I’ll find my soul
You say let it go
Well it’s hard enough to hear
Harder still to move beyond this fear
We know there’s nothing I can bring
So tell me what do you want from me

“Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger.”—Ephesians 4:26 Let it go and let him plan the rest for you. When we hold on one thing so tight, it’s easy to lose it. Faith in Christ gives us security and shows us the way where we should go to achieve our goals.

“By Your Side”—Tenth Avenue North

Why are you striving these days
Why are you trying to earn grace
Why are you crying
Let me lift up your face
Just don’t turn away
Why are you looking for love
Why are you still searching
As if I’m not enough
To where will you go child
Tell me where will you run
To where will you run
‘Cause I’ll be by your side wherever you fall
In the dead of night whenever you call
And please don’t fight these hands that are holding you
My hands are holding you
Look at these hands at my side
They swallowed the grave on that night
When I drank the world’s sin
So I could carry you in
And give you life
I want to give you life

“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us.” (1 John 4:10) Our relationship with God will never be changed no matter what happens. He loves us all as much as he can. He is always kind enough to offer us shelter and give us comforts whenever we are in trouble, we are going through hard time or we are lost in the middle of nowhere and have nobody to count on.

“Lift Me Up”—The Afters

You lift me up with your love
You lift me up with your love
You lift me up with your love
You lift me up
Waiting for the sunrise
Waiting for the day
Waiting for a sign
That I’m where you want me to be
You know my heart is heavy
And the hurt is deep
But when I feel like giving up
You’re reminding me
That we all fall down sometimes
But when I hit the ground
You lift me up when I am weak
Your arms wrap around me
Your love catches me so I’m letting go
You lift me up when I can’t see
Your heart is all that I need
Your love carries me so I’m letting go

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.—Isaiah 12:2  Don’t be afraid of failing and falling down. God is always next to us and help us as long as we believe in him.

“In Christ Alone”—Owl City

In Christ alone, my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My comforter, my all-in-all
Here in the love of Christ I stand
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand

Personally, I’m very fond of Owl City’s version of this song. It calms me down and gives me peace. Faith in God makes us fearless and stay tough when difficult times comes to us. If you pray, he will hear and bless you. God doesn’t see bad things on us and his love is long live. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”–Jeremiah 29:11
