It can be easy to lose site in our daily lives as Christians. As a result, it is easy to find ourselves helplessly struggling along in our daily lives. Let’s do a quick recap about the power of the cross.

The Graceful Cross

Ephesians 2: 4-5 says “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions, it is by grace you have been saved.”

God saw how helpless and how lost and rebellious we were. The solution to this problem had to be outside of ourselves, there is nothing we could have done to be saved, the only solution was God’s grace. He gave his son so that we may live. Our Savior bore all of our sins for us. He paid the debt we owed, even though he was innocent and perfect. Jesus shed his blood in our place and rescued us from death so that we may have life. It is by grace and grace alone that we are saved.

So what exactly is grace? Grace is getting what we don’t deserve. God’s gift of salvation is something we do not deserve, but it is offered to all of us. He is waiting for us to accept his forgiveness and begin a relationship with him. The best part is, it is free because Jesus paid the price on the cross so we didn’t have to.

No matter what season you are in at this point in your life, remember the cross and accept Jesus’ unconditional love for you, because he loves you so very much. Try to live a life that honors your free gift. We fall short everyday, but just remember we are covered by his grace, and that is the best gift that you will ever receive.
