In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Genesis 1:1
Here we see God himself was hovering over the waters in the earth. Now the word hovering means “(of a person) wait or linger close at hand in a tentative or uncertain manner” according to thefreedictionary.com. What caught my attention in this definition of the word hovering is “wait or linger close at hand”. Here it tells me that God took his time and was tentative on what he was going to do. From the beginning of time, He had a plan, and his plan was to cover the darkness with his light.
For me a few years ago before I gave my life to Jesus, I was in that darkness. I was in a place where I did not know myself or the person I had become. I was out in the streets consuming drugs and alcohol and hung out with the wrong crowd. I was hopeless and sometimes I even thought about suicide. I hated myself for the person I had become and the “trash” I had let inside of me. I never knew that God was hovering over my life and protecting me from harm and death. He knew he had a plan and a purpose for my life, and used my sister to talk to me about Jesus. Soon enough God began to work in me. It’s been 10 years since my life changed, and I was set free from the darkness I was in. God’s light that was in me, soon began to reveal and show me that his true love can heal.
to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”Luke 1.79
I forgave myself and started to see myself as an image of Christ and knew that He had wonderfully, and fearfully made me. Psalm 139:14.

God’s light is waiting to cover your darkness. He is ready to be your light in the midst of your fears and troubles and sinful ways. He is hovering over your life waiting for you and interceding for you. He is waiting to cover you. Just like God commanded in the beginning, Let there be light in life and you will see that your life will be changed forever like He changed mine.
