What can God do with my depression?

The best thing that happened to me was meeting Jesus. When I began to believe, my life completely changed. Before, I was a very depressed, arrogant atheist with absolutely no life meaning. As a scientist, I need proof for everything. However, to believe means to accept something as absolute truth. That something can be with or without evidence. God, All-mighty, and All-good help me overcome my critical thinking obstacle and entered my life. Soon after, I was very happy, and I had a joy of Salvation and a purpose in Him.

I believe that it is freedom for what we have been set free. As I was a new Christian, my focus was the Bible, the Word of God. The commitment to teaching the determined truthfulness of His Word was made. I am very grateful to our Lord and Savior for the honor and privilege of serving Him! God has changed and continues to change my character, and no matter how difficult it is sometimes, I am ready for God to lead her and remove everything that is not pleasing to Him.

But the enemy never sleeps. The most important thing for him is to separate us from the Lord and lead us to sin. With the covid-19 crisis, Europe was in lockdown, and it started to make me feel lonely. Even the church was canceled. It was a spiritually difficult time for all of us. I got depressed.

The joy of Salvation

If you are saved, then, by salvation itself, you should enjoy your life. There is a story about discouragement that I’ve shared with my congregation and asked them to remember:

The devil was one day, trying to sell his tolls to the people. He thought if he can converse with people to use lies, disobedience, act immorally and start stealing, they will go away from our Lord. So he set up his “market.” People were looking around and asking for prices. An interesting thing happened when someone asked the devil, what do you want for discouragement? He smiled and answered, discouragement is the only tool he is not willing to sell. It is his most powerful weapon.

We can learn from this story that the devil wants you to be discouraged, depressed, and anxious so that he can play with your mind like a toy. The Lord spoke to me depression is not my fault. Anxiety is not your fault. God gave us joy, and He wants everyone happy, and he wants us healthy. He loves humankind, and He shows that love on the cross! But what God wants you to do about depression?

God works all the time

Through many circumstances, God showed that He had cared. Only God can bring us out of a state of depression. If you are wondering what can God do with my depression? Then the actual answer is, He can make something beautiful out of your depression. And only He can do that. In my case, the Lord encouraged me to continue my missionary work but online.

One day, a thought came to me from God that I should start an online, free, website for Bible study. Oh, if I could only describe the joy I’ve felt at that moment. It is a great honor to serve the Lord. Then, I’ve shared my idea with a few believers, so we form a team. Magnificent ideas appear among friends. The blessings from God itself. The craziest in the whole idea is that we all belong to a different denomination. “Lord is our Shepherd” gathers around different people to work together in the Kingdom of God.

Only God can take something as ugly as depression and turn it into something beautiful. The joy of salvation has been restored to me. I often remember David crying out to the Lord and asking for the joy of salvation to be restored to him.

Bible verses about depression

Although there may be difficult or dark times, taking the time to be grateful and reflect on good things can lift your spirits. Reading the Bible and looking into a few verses might help. Remember that you are not alone always ask for the help and support of your community. God bless you!

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7
