My desire to get more of God has grown over these few days. I find this intense desire to always pray and to study the Word of God. The scripture found in Psalm 42:1-2 has become very real in these times and sometimes I break down in tears. I normally have trouble keeping up my spiritual fervor with my busy schedule.

As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for  God, the Living God. When can I go and stand before Him? (Psalms 42:1-2)

As women seeking to grow in the Lord challenges come up and we always find ourselves wondering if even we are in the faith. The world keeps evolving every day and we get caught up in activities that sometimes make us feel alienated from God.

How do we keep our spiritual fervor?

1. Be deliberate about your fellowship with GOD

Whenever we leave our spiritual lives to chance, it becomes a playground for the enemy. We need to actively guard our faith and our relationship with God. Having regular daily times of prayer and Bible study is very important to keep our spiritual temperature high. Like the parable of the sower, the devil will always sow tares amongst the wheat and it will take a deliberate attempt to get the weeds out of the farm. 5 Tips for Reigniting Your Spiritual fervor

2. Sing spiritual songs

Music has a way of affecting our daily lives. The songs we listen to affect our mood and our thoughts. David sang songs and played the harp to keep the evil spirit tormenting Saul away. Hence, godly music has a way of lifting up our spirits, encouraging us and making us alert and aware of the presence of God around us at a particular time.

3. Pray every day at every time

Prayer is a way of linking up with our Father. Often, we want to find time to pray earnestly but I want to say that start making time for God in this season. Cut down on activities that do not yield anything positive in your life. In keeping your spiritual fervor, we have to be deliberate and conscious about having hearty chats with God anywhere at any time.

4. Engage in godly conversations with family and friends

“Let no corrupt talk come out of your mouths, but only as such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to the hearers” (Ephesians 4:29). This is the word concerning our conversations. Engage in conversations that will stir up your desire to know more about God. Obscene talks and unnecessary arguments only lead to more ungodliness. As women we have to be very cautious so not to slander but rather edify and lovingly correct those who are going astray.

5. Do not miss church gathering

As we continually meet in the church, there is a refining of dull Christian lives. The spiritual fervor is reignited; the slumbering believers are awoken by the Spirit. The effect we have on one another in congregations is very great and cannot be overlooked. The sermon, the praises, and worship, the thanksgiving corporately enhance the richness of our spiritual life. The more we dwell in His presence, the more we long to be in His presence at all times and this is what will cause us to seek the Lord at all times because we never seem to get enough of Him.

Seek to know God better this year. I love how the Message Bible puts the scripture in Jeremiah 29:13 “When you come looking for me, you will find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than  anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.”

He will surely make sure you won’t be disappointed if only we will seek Him daily.
